Wednesday, June 15th, 2011
The Klout Score is the measurement of your overall online influence. The scores range from 1 to 100 with higher scores representing a wider and stronger sphere of influence. Klout uses over 35 variables on Facebook and Twitter to measure True Reach, Amplification Probability, and Network Score. If you’re influential on social media get ready to be courted…and watched closely by the corporate world… Posted in WWWShop | No Comments » Facebook Developers Melbourne

![]() Buy Our Software Services It’s one thing to love the web, embrace the idea of being permanently available online and to engage through your own web properties etc. It is quite another to have the understanding, time and interest in stuffing around with FBML, jQuery, PHP, Apache, server consoles and esoteric tutorials in order to be able to embrace the modern Internet communication and distribution services. That’s why we’ve just launched WWWShop/shop. Our shop has been set up to provide a software support service for normal people and normal small businesses who want a blog, a Facebook like on their website, a data feed from their website to their twitter account or a simple RSS feed set up etc. As we all know Open Source software is freely available to use…if you know what you’re doing, have a server set up correctly, understand ftp, MySQL databases etc. But what if you don’t and don’t want to learn? That’s where we aim to bridge the gap. Our services are deliberately priced down to enable as many people or small businesses as possible to take advantage of the new web by making use of the fun bits not the dull bits at the back end. It doesn’t need to cost thousands of dollars to get a really effective and integrated social media strategy up and running. We have started with a small range of services and these are just a sample of the services we can provide so if the open source product isn’t in our range just let us know and we’ll add it or provide a customized quotation for you. We’re pretty excited about our new shop. We hope it inspires you to engage and integrate all you web based content and services as well. Since this email went to paid up members of the OSIA on Monday 22 November 2010 quote “Dear Members, It is with great sadness that I am announcing the Board’s intention to seek the closure of Open Source Industry Australia Ltd. The last 18 months have given us a lot of time to reflect on the state of the industry, and the role and place for a business focussed organisation like OSIA. We have come to the conclusion that while many of the members value membership of OSIA, it is almost impossible for small business owners and directors to also direct the significant time required to ensure organisations like OSIA can continue to function and succeed. It is also with sadness that I should publicly announce Mark Englaro has withdrawn as Chairman and resigned from the Board of Directors in August 2010 and Del Elson resigned in May 2010. This information has been previously published, but I’m not sure how widely it has been circulated. As a result, the board of directors have called an Annual General Meeting for Open Source Industry Australia on Monday 20th December 2010 at 6pm at: Board Room Real World Technology Solutions Suite 1, Ground Floor 1A Homebush Bay Drive Rhodes 2138 The agenda of the meeting will be: 1) Receive reports from the board of directors 2) Review the audited financial statements for OSIA for the 09/10 financial year 3) Review the financials for the 10/11 financial year 4) Seek to close/dissolve Open Source Industry Australia Ltd Please note that we will accept attendance via Phone, Video Conference or in person, and proxy voting forms will be made available shortly. I intend for reports to be made available at least two weeks before this meeting so that members have the opportunity to review and comment. *** Please RSVP your attendance no later than 5pm on Monday 13th December 2010. *** There has been a cacophony of messages from members who had either forgotten they were members and were upset at being SPAMMED by these people or who were geniunely interested in helping. One commenter noted the only reason people were members was to help their Google ranking….which is probably quite right… In any case if you want to see a national independent Open Source Industry Association get along…there’s no shortage of vacant positions. We just recently finished a really nice looking website – lantern.org.au using WordPress. The ease of both development and training non technical staff on how to update the blog makes it a great product and one that we at WWWShop would highly recommend. With the huge take up here and overseas of both the iphone and more recently the ipad the issue of website compatibility becomes important again. Any website containing components of the Adobe Flash application will not display on the native ipad or iphone browser. Many websites around around the world are built entirely using Flash and many others have large flash animated headers. These simply become invisible on the ipad and iphone. So…time to review your website to make sure its compatible with the fastest growing devices in the world today! See ipadchecker.com for more information. Tuesday, September 14th, 2010
One of the things people/companies need to be wary of these days when getting new websites or campaigns created by their graphic design agencies these days is the use of flash. For so long flash has been the app du jour of the graphic designer wanting to recreate a flat, print design for web viewing. The problem? Not visible on an iphone or ipad Henry! Have a look at the jQuery library for this stuff. It is easy to use, looks modern and works beautifully on both of these popular devices. We have just use two jQuery plug-ins on our new website. See the main banner and the accordion down the right hand side. The accordion is just 4 lines of code…how good is that!
